Mota is a ride-tracking and social riding application that allows users to record rides, share live location with other riders, and communicate via voice chat.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3.1 Account Data

• Authentication data, including hashed passwords and tokens

• GPS location points during rides
• Ride routes and history
• Timestamps and ride metadata

3.3 Live Session Data

• Active ride session participation
• Real-time location shared with other participants
• Session-related metadata such as join, leave, and leader status

3.4 Voice Communication

• Voice audio transmitted during live ride sessions
• Voice communication is transmitted in real time and is not recorded or stored by Mota

3.5 Device and Technical Data

• App version
• Limited device type data
• Error and crash logs

3.6 Analytics and Error Monitoring

We use Sentry and Firebase Crashlytics for error monitoring and crash reporting. These services may process technical data related to app performance and errors.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide ride tracking functionality
• Enable live location sharing with other riders
• Enable voice communication during rides
• Maintain ride history
• Improve app performance and reliability
• Ensure security and prevent misuse

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your data based on:

• Contract, to provide the Mota service
• Consent, where required, such as device permissions
• Legitimate interest, for security, debugging, and service improvement

6. Location Data Usage

Location tracking starts only when you actively start or join a ride and stops when you end the ride or leave the session.

We do not track your location when you are not actively using the ride functionality.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data.

We share data only when necessary:

• With other riders in the same active ride session, for live location and presence
• With infrastructure providers such as LiveKit, hosting providers, Sentry, and Firebase

These providers act as data processors and process data on our behalf.

8. Data Retention

• Ride data is stored until deleted by the user
• Account data is stored while the account is active
• Logs are retained for a limited period, typically up to 30 days, for debugging and security

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct your data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data
• Withdraw consent where applicable

10. Account Deletion

You may delete your account from within the app.

Deletion will remove your profile and delete or anonymize your rides, account data, and session participation data.

11. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data.

12. Children

Mota is not intended for users under 16 years of age.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy.

If changes are significant, you will be asked to review and accept the updated version.
